GA 866 has shiny reddish-brown, date like fruit with a sweet apple flavor. Fruit is noteworthy for its remarkably high sugar content. When candied and dried they resemble dates. Also, can be made into a delicious ice cream. The fruit is one and a half to two inches long, elongated and plump. Ripens close to Lang.Needs hot summer for fruit to ripen, especially good in desert areas.Attractive shiny leaves and rugged with picturesque bark.
